Wowza hat heute per Email verkündet, dass eine H.264-Vorab-Version des Flash-Streaming-Servers Wowza Media Server Pro zum Download bereitsteht.
Die Version mit der Bezeichnung Wowza Pro 1.5.0 Preview1 wartet mit neuen Features auf:
- Abspielen von Videos mit H.264 und AAC (.f4v, .mp4, .m4a, .mov, .mp4v, .3gp, und .3g2)
- „Bi-directional support for Action Message Format 3 (AMF3)“
Livestreaming mit H.264/AAC sei noch nicht möglich, da noch keine Live-Encoder für H.264-RTMP-Streaming vorhanden seien. Einige spezielle Wowza-Features (Fast forward, fast rewind und slow motion playback) sind ebenfalls noch nicht vorhanden bzw. deren Umsetzbarkeit mit H.264 muss erst noch überprüft werden.

Wowza Pro 1.5.0 (Preview Release 2) introduces support for live H.264/AAC streaming to Flash using industry standard RTP/RTSP encoders.
This exclusive capability has been tested for interoperability with Apple QuickTime Broadcaster, Vara Software Wirecast and HaiVision hi1000 series network video system. Additional encoder product certifications are in progress.
